How to paint
a mural by numbers
FAQ's (Frequently Asked
Questions)
I am not
at all artistic! Will I be really able to do this?
Absolutely! Have you ever coloured in
a colouring book? Well it's just as simple. Just tape up
the pattern and transfer paper, trace the lines with a ball point
pen and then paint the areas with the corresponding colours.
How long will it take?
Typically, most murals should on average take a weekend to complete,
but obviously, it will depend on the speed you paint, and the
size of the mural you have chosen.
Do I have
to prepare the wall in anyway before starting?
For best results the wall should be clean and dust and dirt free.
What kind of paint should I use on my
background - matte, semi-gloss or what?
We suggest a satin, semi-gloss or eggshell finish. You can then
remove marks from the transfer paper easily using a damp cloth.
Can I paint it on any colour of wall?
Most murals will look best on a white, off white or very pale
complimentary colour. If you plan to have a very dark background,
it would be best to leave the area where the mural will be painted
till after the mural is completed. This way you will not have
the problem of painting light colours over dark.
What is included in the kit and is there
anything else I will need to buy?
Each kit includes the paper pattern, transfer paper, directions
and a colour guide. You will need to buy the paints, a couple
of brushes. We suggest a (1x 1 inch wide flat brush and 1x 1/4
inch round brush for smaller details) and some painters tape or
low tack masking tape.

Do I have to use your paints listed in
the directions?
No, the paint list serves only as a guide should you wish to follow
it. There are generic paints colours listed on the instructions
too. You could even come up with your own colour palette to suit
your colour scheme.
Why shouldnt I trace the numbers
too?
Its best not to, as some of the numbers might show through
the lighter coloured paints which will be difficult to hide.Try
testing it out first.
Can I reverse the patterns so the design
faces the opposite direction?
Yes. Place the pattern on top of the transfer paper with
the transfer material facing the back of the pattern. Trace design,
When you turn over the pattern the design will be on the back
in reverse.
Proceed with normal directions to tansfer the design to the wall.
